Performance
As its standard engine, the new Yukon XL goes with a 5.3-liter V8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Choosing either the Denali or the Denali Unlimited will mean having a 6.2-liter V8 that can generate 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine is optional on the off-road-oriented AT4 model. You can also choose a turbo 3.0-liter diesel engine for your commutes to Fairfax, which will have your Yukon XL making 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Each of these three engines works wonderfully with the standard 10-speed automatic transmission.
Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trims except the AT4 and Denali Ultimate, which are available exclusively with four-wheel drive. Of course, if you want to keep your GMC SUV running in top shape for your off-road adventures, consider bringing it to our Leesburg service center for routine maintenance.
Technology
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard features for the Yukon XL. They are accessible using the 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. You can also finance or lease a new Yukon XL equipped with GMC Connected Services, satellite radio, and a 12-inch digital driver information center. From the SLT trim level up, the Yukon XL offers a wireless charging pad. A rear-seat media system is available, and it features HDMI ports, wireless headphones, and dual 12.6-inch screens.
Interior & Exterior Design
The Yukon XL is a large SUV that makes an impression as you drive to Sterling. LED taillights, fog lights, and headlights all come standard for this new SUV. A variety of useful exterior features are available, including a hands-free power liftgate and power-retractable side steps. If you choose the AT4, your Yukon XL will have things like all-terrain tires and skid plates to help it get further off the beaten path.
Inside, the Yukon XL comes standard with seating for eight. You can tweak this layout by choosing select models and packages, reducing the number to seven, or expanding it to eight. As an extended-wheelbase model, the Yukon XL offers a generous 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row. The maximum cargo capacity of this SUV is a cavernous 144.7 cubic feet.
Standard Features
The entry-level Yukon XL SLE arrives nicely equipped. It comes with things like power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Features like rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high beams, and a remote start make life around Reston easier. The new GMC Yukon XL also comes standard with advanced safety features, including lane departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation, and parking sensors. A rear-seat reminder is also available.
Trim Levels
In addition to the SLE, there are four other GMC Yukon XL trim levels to consider:
- SLT: Includes driver's seat memory settings, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless device charging, hands-free liftgate, and a nine-speaker Bose sound system
- AT4: Has a heavy-duty air filter, front tow hooks, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, a two-speed active transfer case, and adaptive suspension dampers
